Marriage—A Symbol, A Sign of
Christ and the Church
"Christ is head of the
church; and He is the Savior of the body.
Therefore, the church is subject to Christ as His bride.
"Husbands, loving your
wives, is a sign just as Christ also loves the church and gave Himself for her,
that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by His word,
that He might present the Bride to Himself a glorious church, not having spot
or wrinkle or any such thing, but that the Bride should be holy and without
blemish.
"For we are members of
the body of Christ, of His own flesh and of His bones, just as Eve came from
the flesh and bone of Adam. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and
mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This is
a great mystery here, but I am speaking to you concerning Christ and His Bride,
the Church." Ephesians 5:22-32
Marriage of the Bride, the
Church and the Bridegroom
"And I heard as it were
the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the
voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent
reigns.
"Let us be glad and
rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his
Bride hath made herself ready.
"And to her was granted
that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen
is the Christian love and charity of saints.
"And he said unto me,
Write, Blessed are they which are called to the marriage supper of the
Lamb." Revelation 19:6-9
